My youngest daughter just turned 2 this weekend and I did a super cute Blue’s Clues birthday party! She loves the show and I’m also a huge fan.
Her birthday was so easy to plan, inexpensive, and oh so cute! I bought everything from Dollar Tree, Party City, Target, and Amazon.
Last year for her 1st birthday I shared all my tips on how to plan a great birthday party without going crazy or broke, in that post I go into detail on how I organize myself, plan, budget, shop, and prep - you also get to see her cute pink and gold decorations. Check out that blog post here: Easy Birthday Party Ideas.
Decorations
The decorations were easy because of this Blue's Clues & You! Room Decorating Kit from Party City – they now have a full Blue’s Clues section! It included the beautiful backdrop (it’s still up on my wall), balloons, props, swirl decorations, and table decorations. I also bought a Blue's Clues table cover and paper cups.
I found the colorful straws, happy birthday sign, number 2 balloon, and yellow cutlery at Dollar Tree.
A great tip when having a themed birthday party for your kids is to use what you have on hand! My daughter already had the toys I used on the table like Mailbox, Handy Dandy Notebook, Bedtime Blue, and the figure set. The toys made it look much more alive and fun!
Sweets
I love making themed treats for my daughters' birthdays. I made almond bark-covered Oreos, almond bark number 2 lollipops, and small animal cracker bags with a little “clue” and sprinkles in them.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find vegan white chocolate so I used ALDI’s vanilla almond bark which is vegetarian.
For the Oreos, I used a paw mold for chocolate-covered Oreos, for the number 2 lollipops I used another mold from the same company, and for the small chocolate paws in the animal cracker bags, I used a mini chocolate silicone mold.
The little fudge pretzels I had at the table were from Dollar Tree, this was another vegetarian treat (sadly not vegan).
Cake
The cake came out so cute! I made a 3 layer 5.5-inch cake covered in vanilla frosting, colored sprinkles, and tiny "clues” from Blue; I used the mini chocolate silicone mold for the little paws.
To make it easier on myself I made a boxed cake instead of making a cake from scratch or buying one from a bakery (which can be VERY expensive for a themed cake). You can find the recipe here: Vegan Cake Mix Cupcakes, it is my go-to for birthdays. I baked the batter in silicone 5.5-inch molds.
I found the Blue and Magenta cake topper on Amazon, it’s very cute and the glitter doesn’t come off.
Treat bags
I made a few treat bags for my girls and our friends with kids even though we didn’t have guests. I added a few things like candy, tattoos, Baby Shark coloring packs, beaded necklaces, horns, and little toys.
Everything except for the tattoos and the coloring packs was from Dollar Tree.
Since the themed treat bags were a little bit expensive for me ($8), I found small pink paper bags at Dollar Tree and taped little paws on them that came with the room decorating kit.
I hope you got some great ideas from this post for your next party!
